16 Questions @ Maccabi FC
Every year in our club’s Yearbook, we feature a handful of players in our "16 Questions" spotlight. This season, we are taking things a step further! By moving this tradition to our digital platforms, we are excited to expand the feature so that every single team gets to highlight a player—meaning over 30 players across Maccabi FC Caulfield will be celebrated.
We asked each Team Manager to nominate a player who truly makes a difference—not necessarily the highest goalscorer or the MVP, but the ultimate team player who brings positive energy, dedication, and heart to the squad.
We hope you enjoy the answers to the 16 Questions that our club players have provided.
Feature Player of the Week: Ezra
Maccabi FC Caulfield
-
What is your name? Ezra
-
Which team do you play in? U14 Maccabi Blue
-
What position do you play in? LB
-
What is your favourite position on the field? Probably attacking wingback, I get up the pitch whilst also supporting the back 5.
-
Do you prefer the blue or the orange Maccabi FC shirt? Always preferred the orange shirt, gotta love the long drives to the away games!
-
What is your favourite TV program? Currently Ted Lasso, the first couple seasons were great!
-
Which is your favourite football team? Manchester City
-
Who is your favourite player? Jeremy Doku
-
When did you start playing at Maccabi FC? 2021, U9’s
-
What do you like to eat before a game? Depends on the time of the game, but usually just cereal.
-
Who has been your toughest opposition this year, player and/or team? Old Xaverians, we were down 3-0 at half time, but managed to claw back to win 5-4 at the start of the season.
-
What is your most memorable moment playing football either at Maccabi FC or elsewhere? Scoring a brace in the last game of the season, against first place to draw 2-2, preventing them from finals, both equalizers.
-
What has been your worst experience playing football? Not many, but getting pace abused down the right wing is always dreadful, especially when I was injured one game, and having to sprint down the touchline, knowing the pace merchant will get me every time.
-
Has anyone had a great influence on your game and why? Definitely my Dad, as he’s been my team manager since U9’s, and knows a bit of ball as he’s from London, so he would always direct me on who to man on, when to tackle.. etc
-
Now this is the most important question. What do you put on your latkes, sugar or salt? Salt of course!
-
Do you have any advice for the younger players at the club? Watch football as much as you can, as even watching one Premier League game can make a huge impact on how you view the game, and also to be patient with yourself, as becoming good at something takes time and effort, so don’t give up on football after one bad tackle, or one bad shot, but to always keep going and eventually improving on your game.
