Walking Football Tournament 9 Sept 2022

Updated: Sep 12, 2022

Once again Maccabi FC Caulfield was well represented at the recent Football Victoria Walking Football Tournament in Keilor Park.

MFCC sent along two teams, Maccabi Blue and Maccabi Orange, to compete against teams from Keilor, Berwick, Whittlesea, Bendigo, Beechworth and more.

All the opposition teams gratefully accepted our gift of friendship in the form of a club pennant which then prompted invitations from those teams to visit them for friendlies in the future.

All of the games played were done so as social sports, in other words there were no finals or trophies handed out. Which is what was agreed to by all of the WF hub leaders before the games.

Maccabi Orange did exceptionally well by winning all of their three games including one against legendary Socceroo Josh Kennedy. In fact, WF regular Joanne Blaik will be able to add to her memoirs that she contested a ball against Kennedy and was able to take the ball off him during their game. Maccabi Blue had a much tougher time in losing all of their three games however they did improve their performances throughout the day.

The smiles all around and camaraderie amongst what are now old time WF friends was a pleasure to see. We are grateful to Football Victoria for putting on this free tournament and creating something special that can only grow greater in time.
