At Maccabi FC Caulfield, football is about more than just the score line; it’s about community, identity, and the freedom to play. This month, our players and coaches stood together to support the #justlikeyou campaign—a powerful initiative by the Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM) in partnership with Maccabi Victoria.
The campaign serves as a bridge between the past and the present, ensuring that the lessons of history resonate with the next generation of athletes.
Connecting Through a Shared Passion
The heart of #justlikeyou is a simple but profound realization: the children and young adults who perished during the Holocaust were not just statistics. They were individuals who shared the exact same passions as our players today. They loved the thrill of a goal, the bond of a teammate, and the pride of wearing their club colors.
"The campaign reminds players that #justlikeyou there were many people their age who loved their sport but were deprived that right because of the Holocaust." — Melbourne Holocaust Museum
By focusing on the "right to play," the campaign humanizes history. It reminds us that between 1933 and 1945, approximately 1.5 million Jewish children were murdered. These children had families, attended schools, and spent their weekends on sports fields—just like the kids currently training at Caulfield Park and all over Australia.

Maccabi FC Caulfield in Action
During recent training sessions, our teams took a moment to reflect on this legacy. Our players were on hand to lend their voices to this vital cause, recognizing that honoring the past is a key weapon in the modern battle against antisemitism and racism in all its forms.
By standing in solidarity, our athletes help transform "historical memory" into an active commitment to kindness, inclusion, and courage on and off the pitch.
Why It Matters
Humanizing the Numbers: Moving beyond the classroom to help young people see themselves in the stories of the past.
Standing Against Hate: Empowering our youth to recognize and call out prejudice in today’s world.
The Right to Play: Celebrating the freedom we have today to compete, grow, and belong to a team.
Join the Movement
As we honor Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), we encourage all members of the Maccabi FC Caulfield family to reflect on the stories behind the #justlikeyou campaign.
They had dreams, they had spirit, and they loved the game. #justlikeyou.
