As part of Football Victoria's Female Football Week celebrations, we interviewed some of our players about their football journey. Here's what Ziv and the U15 Fowler team had to say.

1.           What's your most memorable experience playing football at Maccabi FC Caulfield?

I moved to Maccabi only this year, but so far, I have enjoyed my experience. My Favourite experience was our first game of the season. Not only did I get to see how they play and their style of play against a team. The other team was rough and a tough opposition, but the way we came together and backed each other up was something I didn’t have at my other club. It's nice to see and to know that my teammates will be there for me.

2. What's one thing you love about your team's spirit and how you support each other?

I love my team's spirit of even when we are losing, even if we know that this isn’t the best, we will try and never give up. My team supports each other through the entire game. If we concede a goal as a goalkeeper, they will support me and make sure I don’t blame myself because that’s what goalkeepers do, that’s our mentality.

3.           Looking ahead, what excites you most about the future of women's football?

I am excited to see increasing research about the women’s game and the prevalence of ACL injuries. I am also eager to witness the women’s game evolve, attracting larger crowds and more fans through bigger competitions. Furthermore, I hope to see a greater push for equal pay for smaller countries like Zambia and Nigeria in the future.

4. Who is your favourite footballer and why?

My favourite footballer is Lucy Bronze. She is one of the best at what she does; she pushes herself to her absolute limit, even when she’s tired, because she never wants to give up. Lucy Bronze is someone who never stops, even when she is tired. Any team she joins, she wins titles—whether it's Lyon and the Champions League or Manchester City with the WSL Title.

5. Who is your favourite football team and why?

My favourite football team is Arsenal Women's. I love not only their players but also their mentality. They haven’t been to a Champions League final for 18 years, and against Lyon, who are 5-time champions, they manage to defy the odds and win. When Arsenal was plagued with 4 ACL injuries in 6 months, they didn’t let that stop them; instead, they did research and created a documentary called Step by Step with that research. Arsenal Women went from losing and having many in-club conflicts to a coach who has been a player of the club and has taken them to their first champions league final in 18 years.

Thank you for your candid replies Ziv. We hope that one day you can make it into your favourite team at Arsenal FC and do us all proud.
