Wild Bees Take On the World!

Wrapping up their first-ever full-pitch Football Victoria season in September was only the beginning for the Maccabi FC Caulfield Women’s Wild Bees. Driven by their passion for the game, the team jumped straight into the post-season action by entering the Women’s Football Carnival of Nations.
The tournament kicked off on Sunday, and Wild Bees regular Talya Bassin brings us all the highlights from their opening games.
Carnival of Nations – Day 1 Recap
And we’re off! Day 1 of Football Victoria’s Carnival of Nations saw Team Israel take to the pitch for our first two games of the tournament.
Our first match was against Spain. We’ll just say… Spain were very Spanish about their football Moving right along!
Game two against Greece was a MUCH better story, with Israel coming away with a brilliant 2–0 win! Goals from Hayley and Sandra, backed by some fantastic passing, teamwork and plays across the whole team. Everyone brought something to the pitch, and it was so good to see it all come together!
Melbourne also decided to put on a beautiful sunny day, which sounds lovely until you’re running around on synthetic turf that feels approximately five degrees hotter than the actual temperature. A timely reminder of why football is, and should remain, a winter sport!
Next Sunday we’re back for round two against New Zealand and Curaçao, and then, please God, onto the finals the following week!
Am Yisrael Chai!
