Sam Shines Bright with Australia Gold and a Bronze Finish at the Over 70 World Cup!
The international stage witnessed fantastic determination and resilience as Australia Gold delivered an inspiring campaign at the Over 70 World Cup, ultimately capturing a sensational 3rd place in the Champions League tier!
Competing against top-tier masters teams from around the globe, Australia Gold proved their mettle right from the opening whistle. The group stage showcased the squad's grit and defensive solidarity, highlighted by a resounding 6–0 masterclass against Japan - Kizuna, a clean-sheet 3–0 victory over USA - NC United, and hard-fought tactical draws against heavyweights Germany Blue and Wales.
Advancing deep into the finals, Australia Gold faced fierce competition on finals day, including a narrow encounter against Germany Blue. Refusing to let setbacks define their journey, the team bounced back in magnificent style for the 3rd-place playoff, putting on a dazzling display to defeat Germany White 4–0 and secure a well-deserved bronze medal.
We are especially proud of Sam from Walking Football Maccabi for being an integral part of the Australia Gold squad taking out the bronze. Having just turned 80 in recent weeks, Sam is a true inspiration and living proof that age is absolutely no barrier!
Congratulations to Sam and the entire team for representing with pride, passion, and exceptional football spirit on the world stage!
